Asphalt Roof Repair Wilmington NC

Many commercial buildings and homes have a low-sloped roof on them. A great deal of roofs have asphalt on them. The roofs can either be smooth or graveled to help protect from the elements. As the roof ages, they start to break down with splits and cracks showing through on the perimeter, the general roof field and the penetration flashings. To maintain these roofing systems and extend their lifespan to help protect the inside of your home, you want to make sure you take care of these leaks as soon as they ensue.

Metal Roof Repair Wilmington NC

When you have a metal roof that is installed properly, you don’t have to worry about it wearing out before its time. Just like all types of roofs, you have to perform regular repair and maintenance. Repairing your roof can be quite troublesome. When repairs are done properly, they will outlast the life of the roof that they were applied to.

If they aren’t done right, the roof will end up failing and breaking apart, leaving you with a continual leakage problem. Recurring leaks are not only aggravating, but they can also cause damage inside of your structure and lead to mold growth. Fixing the problem right away is one of the best things you can do to ensure an airtight system for years to come.

There are a number of things that can cause the roofing to fail, such as the manner in which it was installed. By bringing out a professional, you can identify the problem right away to prevent further complications.

It might be that the area needs to be resealed to help prevent any leakage from occurring. There is also the chance that there is a tiny hole along the edge of the sun roof that is causing the water to leak inside. By ignoring the problem, you are only going to end up with a large leak that damages the interior of your property. As soon as you notice water leaking into the area, you need to have a professional roofer come in and take a look at it for you.

Harbor roofing offers many types of repairs. With flashing repair and chimney leaks we will have you covered. Proper flashing around a chimney includes a couple of layers. The first is called step flashing: Sections of L-shaped sheet metal are woven into the shingle courses and lapped up the side of the chimney.  Then counter flashing: A second layer of metal is embedded in the chimney mortar joints and folded down to cover the top of the step flashing. The corners are especially vulnerable. Everything is then caulked with a high quality urethane caulk. When the chimney is at the bottom of a roof slope, we always install a cricket, a small diversion roof that prevents water from pounding the up-roof part of the chimney. We frame and sheathe crickets just like the rest of the roof, and completely cover them with a modified bitumen membrane, which is folded up under the chimney flashing. We install asphalt shingles over the membrane to blend the cricket with the existing roof. We cut and bend all of our flashing to fit any chimney or job.  We also offer Copper, which the longest lived type of flashing.  Although a little more expensive, it looks beautiful and lasts long. Another advantage to copper is that the corners can be soldered for a watertight connection.
